Ah, sorry OP! I'm in the same boat, only mine's lasted for two months and going strong, and triggers migraines. I finally caved and asked the doc for painkillers and they gave me amitriptyline so will try that soon, and am mainlining the deep heat! Otherwise I've heard cranial osteopathy or chiropractic rec'd for tension headaches. Dreading work these days as I suspect it all stems from working on a laptop while wfh and by 2 it's generally a full blown headache. Much better on weekends.

Where is your pain, if you don't mind my asking?

Beezkneezhoney · 18/07/2021 10:56

Sounds just like mine..only mine don't get better on the weekends..pain is mainly at the top of my head and temples...I occasionally get jaw pain....I think I might have to see a more specialised practitioner..where is your pain?

I’m prone to them. I’ve found volterol gel on my neck/upper back and stretching exercise helps

valadon68 · 19/07/2021 13:29

Ah, sorry to hear you don't get any respite OP! Does it ever lift a bit? Must be very demoralising.

Snap with the jaw pain, but mine is mostly at the base of my head and can intensify and spread to my forehead & between my eyes.

Have you tried swimming? It really helps me (though the pain does come back).

Wrong, thanks for the rec. Any stretches I do seem to make things worse Hmm do you have any in particular that help?

I have been having this recently, started about 2 weeks ago and I've spoken to GP who said it is stress/tension headache, which does make sense as I am going through a stressful time at the minute. I remember having it years ago and it lasted months. I've just been taking paracetamol
But gp said if it carried on she can prescribe something.

HelloDaisy · 13/08/2021 21:18

How are you feeling now, Beezkneezhoney? Have you found anything that helped?

I have had a headache for 4 months now and can’t seem to shift it at all. Some days it’s not bad at all but others like today it makes me so miserable.

Doctor has advised massage or acupuncture rather than medication…

dannyrojas · 14/08/2021 08:40

I had physio for mine. Made a huge difference - I would get them all around the top of my head.

GP made me try and turn my head and I couldn't see round my shoulder. Physio released those muscles.

Yoga may be helpful - pretty sure there is a yoga for headaches on yoga for Adrienne on YouTube. I find a lot of forward folds ease the tension tangibly.

I've suffered tension headaches for years! I have a really stiff neck all the time and in between shoulder blades area. The base of my skull is so tight all the time ! I also get bad jaw pain too

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 14/08/2021 08:48

I get them a lot, with the pain stretching all across my collar bone, neck, shoulders and jaw too.

Adrienne does a neck and shoulder ten minute session which is good.

Microwave wheat pack.

Voltarol (or Vitriol as it is known in our house)

Syndol (but these make me horribly hungry, weirdly!)

Massage

Well I finally managed to get rid of my headache for a good 2 weeks without medication and I was feeling so good. I didn't realise how much of a bummer having a constant headache is like.....after my last period stopped I've had a headache since..I've been ti physio to loosen me up but there's no relief as yet....

I found the best solution for me is regular back and neck massage. Seems to relieve all pressure in my head..
