Adenoids, nose congestion

Hi my little boy is 15 months old and has been reffered to ENT and is now being reffered to a different hospital to have his adenoids removed. I have been looking up on this but i cant seem to find anyone with the same issue as him.

He has sleep apnea and he also snores loudly but the main issue is he has a constant congested nose, he barely breathes through his nose at all and all day long i am constantly wiping yellow snot from it. I feel so sorry for him, i don't think he knows what it is like to have a clear now.

So anyone else experienced a constant congested nose with their little ones and did surgery helped or was it found to be something else like allergys?

I had my adenoids removed when I was about 10. I can't really remember much about before, I think I may have been a mouth breather (I remember always having dry, cracked lips) and had a really poor sense of smell so I suspect I had a rather congested nose. I remember having a nasal spray that I had to use once or twice a day (can't rememberhow long for), it smelt/tasted awful and even smelling it at work now brings tears to my eyes.

Apparently, my adenoids were huge when they were removed. I was in hospital one night post-op. I had a really sore throat post-op, I don't know if that was from the surgery (I don't actually know how they access the adenoids) or from being intubated in theatre.

It must have been my adenoids which were the problem, I breathe through my nose now and have a pretty good sense of smell. I don't know how soon these improved afterwards.

Yes my DC had tonsils and adenoids removed for Sleep Apnea, he had a thick snotty nose a lot.
It was like a different child almost instantly after the surgery, wish it had been done sooner.
