Iron infusion

Hi all, has anyone had an iron infusion and aufferd side effects for 4 weeks??? Headaches, fatigue and nausea in particular???

I get iron infusions on a regular basis( about 3-4 times a year) and normally feel crappy for about 1 week with those symptoms, but 4 seems a lot. Why did you have the infusion? Do you have any long term health issues?

Hello, no other underlying underlying health issues, other than low iron....

I had one on Friday while in hospital having the cause of low haemoglobin investigated. I also had two units of blood on Thursday last. Query internal bleed but no evidence after CT, endoscopy, colonoscopy and MRI and more blood tests than I care to remember! Still no answers yet. We shall see, and I am obviously concerned.

Anyway, I am home now and am totally wiped out. I cannot believe it, I thought I would blossom into the old me and be full of energy. Nope, pressure headaches when climbing the stairs or bending down, a touch of nausea, no appetite and extreme fatigue. Doc said it would take a week or so to see the benefits, hope so. I had Ferinject. Hope it works out for you and me. All the best.

@Veeeeh you poor thing, that's sounds horrible. I'm off to the doctor tmw to hopefully get some answers. I'm really and truly over it.. I'm guessing the doctor will probably not take me seriously either....

Feeling better then I was..my iron ferratin levels have gone up which is good and makes it all worth it...(I guess?!)

I'm currently in hospital on fluids and observations after passing out this morning while having ferinject. The nurses think I may have had a reaction to it.
