What should my doctor be testing for?

I've been ill with vague symptoms for several months - my GP has decided it's anxiety, but I'm convinced there's something physical at the root of it. I've had basic blood tests but surely there are other possibilities - like thyroid problems for example? I just feel ill all the time. I sleep badly and wake up feeling sick, with a white-coated tongue. I have diarrhoea every morning. I feel tired all the time. I've tried so hard to pull myself out of it - I force myself to exercise, I eat really well and take a load of vitamins, but I just keep on feeling terrible. I can't help feeling there must be a simple, physical explanation for all this. Are there tests I should ask my GP to do?

Do you know what the basic blood test actually tested for? Do you have access to those records?

JoliePapier · 06/07/2021 06:28

Yes I do have the records of the blood tests - although I'm not medical so I don't know exactly what they mean. It includes 'full blood count' and 'liver function'. Everything is normal - which my GP says means I am perfectly healthy. But I feel ill!

Have a look at coeliac disease.

I’m in the same boat as you @JoliePapier, lots of symptoms making me feel unwell but all my bloods are within range so no further action! I’ve had tingling feet and legs for months now, which have just this week started vibrating as well, carpal tunnel too, dry eyes and something is going on with my lungs/breathing too. I’ve just had my thyroid tested again as well as my antibodies as I’m just tearing my hair out with this, nearly every week I’m developing a new symptom! 🙄😣
