Anyone ever had a plaster cast too tight?

I have a moulded plaster cast for a broken ankle as being treated conservatively so it needs to give support in the right places. There is a feeling of pressure in one particular area which is annoying. I can move my leg and relieve it but do you think I should ask the hospital and relieve but still got 3 weeks to go before it is due to come off! My toes are pink when elevated but do go purple when i go to the loo but heard that’s normal. I am keeping it elevated when not going to the loo. Husband reckons blood coming back to nail bed ok.
No numbness but hear pressure areas can cause skin wounds?

Your foot will swell when you put it down so will make your toes ho purple and feel huge. I did have an issue with a pressure sore on my heel with my plaster when I was in hospital. It was a back slab so they cut down the front so I could lift my heel out of it. It happened really quickly which surprised me.

When I was in a plaster for my ankle I was sure it was rubbing on the ankle bone and that it would be red raw when taken off. But it was absolutely fine, no marks at all, was a horrible pressure sensation though. Are you feeling it over the bone?

Hi yes kind of above my inner ankle. I can relieve it if I put my plaster in a certain position but it’s a bit worrying. This cast is really good for the position it put my ankle in but they have put support on inner ligaments too and it’s there is feels like it’s rubbing a bit. Not where the break is.

@longtompot what is your age? Any health problems or was it due to ill fitting plaster? Is your ankle healed?

It was about 15 years ago now, so I was about 34 when I broke it. It's all ok now, though did take a long while to heal, mainly due to one of the metal plates or the pins holding it became infected and I had to have another operation to have it removed.
I'm not sure why I got the pressure sore. No health problems then. Might have been too tight, or it might have been not having my foot elevated properly and resting all the cast weight on my heal.

Really young then! Yeah I feel like this is rubbing but maybe I am just uncomfortable due to it being snug. I’ve not even had it on a week. Another 3 weeks to go sigh. If it still feels like this tomorrow I should give them a call! Just never broken an ankle before so not sure what it should feel like☹️

Justalittlebit10 - did you discuss the pressure feeling with the hospital? I’m worried whether it would impact being treated conservatively as the plaster is supporting my break.
