For as long as I can remember my left rib cage has always felt different but it never ever used to bother me. Forward to 8 years later and I've since had 3 kids and I'm now 2 stone overweight it bothers me so much more.
It's not painful but it feels like there is something stuck inbetween my ribcage or against it.

I finally got my gp to send me for a scan and it lasted about 20 seconds and she said it's lots of fatty lumps and said I need to exercise to relieve the "lump". That was 9months ago it's still bothering me now so I went for another scan yesterday who said they can't see no lumps, can't see any fatty tissue or lipomas and is unsure what's causing it. She also tried to feel against the skin but couldn't Confused.

I'm so confused I'm glad there was nothing there but I was firstly told I had fatty lumps and now none was seen and I can feel something there. It's not every day but some days for a few days it'll be just a dull stuck feeling then it'll go for a few weeks and it's back again. What is this? Thanks

Never heard of that before. Sorry OP, I know that's no help Thanks

Omg I have the exact same thing! My left rib cage just below bra line has a big lump sticking out. It's been examined and xrayed and the gp basically shrugged and said it's just one of those things.
It's uncomfortable if I'm sitting in a certain way, it absolutely reminds me of being pregnant when the baby would sometimes get stuck under your rib cage in an odd position

@DaxtheDestroyer That's how it feels ! Like a head will pop out. Can relate so much to that baby feeling .
@BunnyRuddington Thank you

I did kind of wonder if it was down to pregnancy with me, I am sure I didn't have it before having children. It just feels (on the outside) like a deformed bit of rib cage, rather than a fatty lump. X-ray was normal enough

I had this! Turns out it was my spleen which was dislodged due to my twins rearranging all my internal organs.

Is your back straight? Scoliosis can throw your ribs out of kilter. Often when a patient has surgery in their back for scoliosis their ribs need 'breaking' too. Back ribs, but still it demonstrates how ribs are affected

Sorry for resurrecting the zombie thread, but I was curious as to how you were diagnosed as I think I may have the same thing! I have a dull pain in my left rib, I can feel a bump there. About 3 months after having my second child I felt a lump there, pushed on it and it disappeared (so I assumed a hernia and went to docs at time, but they couldn't feel anything and told me to contact them if it came back). It's had the occasional dull ache ever since (feels like a pulled muscle)

Fast forward over a year and I went for a long run on Sat and the next day had a tender swollen bump in the area (no skin discolouration). My doctor has arranged bloods and an ultrasound (which could be weeks), so I'd be really interested to hear your experience!

Have you ever found the root of the problem? I have exactly same feeling but on the right side, not pain just uncomfortable feeling like something pressing against rib when in certain positions.
