I know no-one can tell me what's wrong. I suppose I'm just hoping I'm not alone.
I've felt crap for weeks. So exhausted that it's a genuine struggle to get out of bed. (DH has been getting up with the kids and getting them ready for school as I'm honestly out for the count).
Terrible brain fog/poor concentration all day. A bit achey/headachey. No interest in stuff, really.
I'm getting to bed at a decent time, sleeping fine (but with MAD dreams), taking iron/magnesium supplements, eating well, exercising - doing all the things you're supposed to. Still bleurgh.

I'm in my early 40s, though, so wondering if it might be hormonal....still getting regular periods and all the rest.

I should probably see a GP, but I'd just be telling them I felt 'a bit crap'.... Any ideas? (def not covid, by the way)

Definitely go to the GP and ask for bloods to be done. You could have a vitamin deficiency, which is really common. Ask for hormone levels too.

Have you tried vitamin D? I know it sounds impossible but when I felt like this I was vitamin d deficient and a supplement turned it all around.

FiveGensOfLove · 30/06/2021 18:53

Interesting re vitamin D. I agree with you both it's clearly something going awry, so whether hormones or vitamins (or both)....who knows.

First of all stop exercising. You're fatigued and making yourself more tired isn't going to help.

Definitely get blood tests before you take any supplements. It could be a simple fix. Make sure you get a physical copy of your results with the reference ranges. You really want to be in the top third for b12 and vit D.

TheCanyon · 30/06/2021 18:56

I have just recovered from a vitamin d deficiency, felt exactly like this. Everything absolutely ached, my skull hurt just lying down on my pillows, couldn't wear a bra or jeans etc.

CustardyCreams · 30/06/2021 18:57

It might be perimenopause. Ask for oestrogen level to be checked too.

Daisy03 · 30/06/2021 19:25

Could be thyroid issues? Worth getting tested

RandomMess · 30/06/2021 19:44

Only time I slept like a log and needed naps was with Vit D deficiency.

Aquamarine1029 · 30/06/2021 19:46

Sounds like peri-menopause to me. It can be absolutely crushing.

RubyGoat · 30/06/2021 19:50

I feel fairly similar. Been taking mega naps most days for about 3 months. I'm 40 & AFAIK not had covid. Just spoken with my GP who has said blood test definitely a good idea.

LorraineQuiche · 30/06/2021 20:05

I felt like this and it was my iron levels, I could not function. The doctor prescribed proper iron tablets (ferrous sulphate, you have to ask for them rather than buy off shelf) x 3 a day and I felt better after a week, I took them for 3 months before reducing to one a day. Hope you feel better soon Flowers

CurryLover55 · 30/06/2021 20:08

Get tested for Vit B12 deficiency OP. I can honestly say I have never felt so ill in my life but I have recently started B12 injections & the difference is miraculous! Hope you feel better very soon.

Sadsiblingatsea · 30/06/2021 20:15

Vaccination side effects?

FiveGensOfLove · 30/06/2021 21:38

Thanks - all of this is really interesting! Will see if I can get some blood tests. I’m sorry to hear some of you have also felt like this too, but glad there seems to be a solution.
I wouldn’t be surprised if it was perimenopause but I hope it isn’t….!
I don’t think it’s vaccine-related, although after my first jab I struggled to run for a few weeks - just couldn’t get very far before feeling exhausted. I’d perked up, though, until recently.

ImaHogg · 30/06/2021 21:41

I’m 48 and feel this way along with a few other symptoms so coild possible be perimenopause but I am also very anaemic. Have you had your iron levels checked?

TowandaForever · 30/06/2021 21:45

Have you had any ill health recently?

I had a chest infection and feel like you?

FiveGensOfLove · 01/07/2021 09:54

Thanks everyone - I've been wondering whether this is something I should just soldier on with (I know malaise is pretty common right now!) but reading your replies has made me realise I need to speak to a GP.

Have just booked a telephone appointment for next week and will see how i get on.

I agree with @CurryLover55, your symptoms exactly describe my B12 deficiency.

Good luck with the doctor.

RandomMess · 01/07/2021 10:09

It does sound like when my colleague had B12 deficiency too. Had 2 weeks off and still felt no better!
