Poor you. DD has the most hideous one on her chin atm. Its huge. The only thing I can suggest is L-Lysine from a health food shop. It has massively reduced the number of cold sores dd gets and the life of the are much shorter. Not sure it'll get rid of it by Saturday though

Have you tried the coldsore plasters? They're quite sucessful if they're on your face, rather than your lip.

thats great thanks maureenmlovesmincepies will give the l-lysine and plasters a try.Is the L-lysine a tablet?Such a minor thing but it really dents my confidence just want to hibernate untill it goes.Hope your daughters one heals soon.

Yes, they're tablets. They sell them in Holland & Barretts. Be warned though, they are huge - horse tablet huge!

Also avoid chocolate and wheat based foods. L-lysine is really good. Good luck!

I have a cream that was prescribed to me which stopped 2 potential cold sores from developing (they just stayed as bumps) and from further potentials over a period of a week. I was run down and not sleepign enough and when that happens I do or can break out. I have tried Zovirax but didn't find it did anything. This cream which Dr prescribed is fantastic. Can't remember the name but will look and post it. I meant to start a thread to recommend it as I have never ever stopped a cold sore in its tracks!!!

thanks chicpea will look forward to reading your post.sounds like magic cream.

Not sure if it will help by Saturday but a cold tea bag will tighten it up and kill it off much much faster than anythign else. i've been plagued all my life and finally went to the herpes organisation and they told me tea and they also have a special cream you can buy online which is absolutely fantastic at preventing them from developing if you catch them in time. Tea though saved my face on my wedding day, I got one two days before and by the saturday it was small enough to be 'removed' for the day - yuck!

nobodysfool · 23/11/2007 09:57

Thanks artyjoe does it matter what kind of tea bag i use?

Vectavir is the super dooper cream that works. Tried Zovirax and that hasn't ever worked for me.

Vectavir is prescription only but do get a tube, it is such a relief when it stops a coldsore in its tracks.
