I know stupid question
It's not tonsilitis cos I cna see they're clear
Throat feels raw like badly scratched, even breating air over it hurts.
While icecream and jelly is nice for the first 3 x, it's a bit boring now.

We've all had a bug, dd is better now I am also starting to lose my voice .

Don't know whether you should see doc or what you've got, but for sore throats I recommend hot lemon and honey and paracetomol.

Also plenty of sleep, keep warm and regular glugs of fluids down you.

Get well soon.

Poor Piffle, throat pain can be

I don't know whether you should see doc or not, probably depends how ill you feel, whether you have a temp, etc...but I do know that when I've had the worst throats (twice have had ulcers all over the back of mine, v v painful) the most effective pain killer is gargling with soluble aspirin.

Make the solution strong (a full strength aspirin in one big mouthfull of water), keep it in as long as you can, gargle or do whatever it takes to hold the solution against the painful bit, then spit it out. Repeat. Its amazingly soothing/anaesthetizing - reduces inflammation, and allows you to eat a bit for the next 15 minutes or so.

Also, Ibuprofen is better than paracetamol for throats, because its anti-inflammatory. Though you can take both if that helps.

Some sore throats do well with a spoonful of honey to suck from time to time, depends on cause. Ideally, Manuka - you never know, might help recovery time!

Get well soon, and if you start running a temperature or just aren't sure, go see your doc - all they'll do is look in your throat, not too bad

You have my sympathy. There is a nasty throat bug going around-2 of dd1's classmates were hospitalized with it.I got it too,was given antibiotics after a week, with instructions not to take them for a few days in case it cleared up.It did,but returned again a few days later. The AB's cleared it up fast.but 2 weeks later,my throat still isn't quite right.

It may be worth seeing your Dr.I didn't know sore throats could be so painful.

Hope that you are better soon
