Absolutely splitting headache - I know what it is but I don't know what to do about it

Have had a headache for a few weeks as am on some meds that do classically cause headaches. The general advice is to drink a lot of water to get through it, but tbh this isn't working. I think I also have some sort of virus - every evening, my glands seem to hurt, my ears are not in great shape and I feel very run down, physically, achy etc.
What can I do that doesn't involve taking co-codamol? NSAIDs are not allowed because of the treatment. I am quite keen to use an 'alternative' method or home remedy but I don't really know what to do.

lavender on the temples is good.

When DH had migraine-like headaches which lasted for days and for which medication wasn't very effective. He was in despair. I had a look on the net and the only alternative treatment which worked for people seemed to be acupuncture.

He duly went along to an acupunturist and after a couple of sessions was much improved, then his headaches virtually disappeared! For a year or two he needed a 'top-up' every 6 months but he rarely gets headaches now.

I don't know if it would work with medication-induced headaches though.

Well, still have it
I have resorted to co-codamol
I have pulled a neck muscle as well
Joy!
Acupuncture sounds good and I had forgotten about lavender, thanks

can you take Syndol? I know it's not alternative but sometimes you need to take something just to break the headache cycle.

If you get them from the chemist and haven't taken them before, take it at night time (because they can make you drowsy).
