Top tips for stopping a cold taking hold

What are your top tips for stopping a cold in its tracks?

I've got an awful one atm including temperature for several days and with my 1 year old DD I'm not getting any rest or even enough sleep to see it off (she wake up repeatedly still).

Mine that works sometimes but obviously isn't fool proof is using a nasal rinse when I've been somewhere busy or feel it coming on. Helps with the bunged up feeling.

What else can I do when I feel one starting or to prevent?

My gran swore by this, and I genuinely think it does work. The trick is to catch it early early, before you have a sore throat or sniffles, just when you're beginning to feel a bit run down and low on energy.

Have a very hot shower (to 'kill' any virus just up your nose), and then eat a raw clove of garlic and go to bed. DH hates it, but with DC catching everything going at school I don't take chances Grin

😂 I like the hot shower part but not sure on the garlic! Maybe I'll try it next time and let know how it goes

Mine are nasal rinse, high dose vit c and I actually take the rest of my vitamins instead of storing them in the cupboard. Hot bath or shower. Honey if I feel a tickle in my throat.
