Hi all

Never had this before

I have one in the bottom left side gum
Noticed it a week ago
Starting to get painful

Rang dentist, would be charged for appointment and apparently they often go away on their own. Anyone had this?

It didn't hurt at all last week.

Thanks.

I have them often, dentist will not be able to do anything so def don't waste your money!

It will heal in 5ish days

I think I'm on day 8 and it's getting worse though.

I've had this before and was told the following by dentist:

Chlorhexidine mouthwash (can buy online or pharmacy I think), dilute one tablespoon with one tablespoon of water, apply to area in mouth with cotton wool, 4 x a day. Follow up with a thin layer of ointment called Orabase (you can buy online too), 4 x a day. Follow until improvement seen.

I've had hundreds over the years, some will last longer and be so painful and then will overnight start to feel a bit better until it's gone. Not much you can do other than bonjela and mouthwash to keep bacteria away.

I sympathise, they're really horrible but it will heal.

Thank you, I will investigate these things.

The reason I wondered about the dentist was in case I'd got a gum infection. My teeth are too close together so flossing can be a bit harsh especially in that corner.
