He's been sick & off colour all day, but in between being sick is chirpy!

I have a thermoscan, but not sure if 38.8 is high or not!

Any advice would be much appreciated, thanks x

Its a bit high, i think if it goes over 40 its more worrying.

Hopefully someone who knows more will be along soon

It's quite high, when DS1 was poorly last week his was 39.8. Can he keep Calpol down?

meh · 21/11/2007 19:04

more info here My DS1 and DS2 had a vomiting bug last week, they were sick all day and then developed a fever in the eve. DS1 was very hot, he had Calpol and I sponged him with cool water (although there was some debate about whether this is OK - it worked for my DS). They had both fully recovered 24 hours later.

Yes, I drugged him up earlier and he slept for 2 hours (it would have been bliss if I didn't also have a 6 month old to amuse!)

Thank you for your help, he seems ok in between so not overly worried, just would help if I knew what 'normal' was went taking his temp!

Thank you xx

Hope he feels better soon toffeecat.

I have just taken dd2's temp (she's got a cough and cold) and its 39.9

She's not taking and medicine (spits it out) and just wants to sleep.

PutThatInYourPipeandSmokeIt · 21/11/2007 20:21

Can you syringe it in?

Marne · 21/11/2007 20:42

Tried the syringe she gags and spits

I have just managed to put some in with her drink and get it into her.

She is now snoaring very loudly so dh can't hear the football.

PutThatInYourPipeandSmokeIt · 21/11/2007 21:07

Oh well done!! I must say - you are being very calm - I'd have made a complete fool of myself at the hospital by now

saralou · 21/11/2007 21:10

normal tempreture is 36.5 - 37.2 (give or take a bit)

Marne · 21/11/2007 21:11

Last year she had a bad cold and tummy bug and we ended up in A&E, we had a 4 hour wait so i'm in no rush to take her

Im calm now she's asleep, ive been running around like a headless chicken.

PutThatInYourPipeandSmokeIt · 21/11/2007 21:13

You're absolutely right! The fact that she's asleep would only spur me in to poking her and checking that she was rousable!!!

PutThatInYourPipeandSmokeIt · 21/11/2007 21:14

I'm trying to point out how crap I am and not for one moment trying to make out that you're slack!!!

Marne · 21/11/2007 21:15

I know she's ok because she's snoaring, when the snoaring stops i poke her
