Am taking ds to the doctors later as am worried about a few things including his weight
Can anyone tell me if, with his weight of 2st 7lb (15.9kilo) and age of 6years 3 months, he is still on the centile or has fallen off it?
Thanks

puts him dead on the dotted 0.4 line in ds2's red book

look here for WHO growth charts which are more reasonable for slower growing children

whoops · 21/11/2007 13:40

That's great thanks!

I don't think he is even a meter yet! I think he's about 96cm
DD is about to start handing her clothes down to him

Piffle · 21/11/2007 13:46

my dd is 5 yrs old and weighs 14.8 kgs and is 98cms
Good things in small packages

Piffle · 21/11/2007 13:47

hey your ds wears glasses too!

Piffle · 21/11/2007 13:47

what are your worries whoops?
Just asking as dd has Noonan Syndrome (mild) and that causes her to be small...

whoops · 21/11/2007 13:48

Yes Piffle that is true! Plus I guess he did have the best starts being 2lb 15oz at birth but I can't help but worry that he seems to have been the same size for the last 2 years!!

OP posts:
whoops · 21/11/2007 13:49

I'm just worried that he doesn't seem to be putting on weight. dd is nearly 4 and is starting to weigh more but he just seems to stay the same

Piffle · 21/11/2007 13:50

just wondering as you said in your op you had a few concerns..
we worry too much you know

whoops · 21/11/2007 13:53

The other concern is is him soiling himself frequently! I'm starting to wonder if it is a medical thing rather than a attention thing

My dd is probably about the same size of Piffle's dd and exactly the same age. I know that good things come in small packages, but I still worry about her, particularly about being bullied at school when she is older.

Piffle · 21/11/2007 13:54

has it just come on recently?
Could be something like IBS maybe? or some intolerance?
That would also explain the weight gain
He looks like real happy lad in your photos

Piffle · 21/11/2007 13:55

soiph dd is queen of her playground

Piffle · 21/11/2007 13:58

there is a low weight gain support thread now... we should all congregate there

whoops · 21/11/2007 13:58

It has been ongoing since before he started school
We did see a consultant regarding something else who diagnosed that he had constipation at one time so prescribed senna to sort that which it did for a while but now he has gone back to his old ways
He is a happy lad and very popular at school and has a big mouth to make up for his small size

My dd is quiet at school, but bosses everyone about at home

Whoops, was your ds premature? Is this the first time you are seeing a doctor about his weight/height?

whoops · 21/11/2007 14:01

Yes he was born at 33 weks due to IUGR
I have mentioned his weight before but they've not really seen a problem although I'm sure he isn't really gaining properly

why MMJ? his height and weight correspond perfectly in actual fact
yes he is very petite and there may be a good reason for it, some of us have to be on the 0.4 th centiles you know

whoops · 21/11/2007 14:07

I do generally have to get him age 4 clothes as age 5+ are waaaaaaay to big for him!
