I’m going to have an endoscopy to diagnose coeliac disease in the next few weeks. I am going to have IV sedation but I am quite nervous about it - those of you who have had sedation, what is it like? What is an endoscopy like?

I found it absolutely fine. You fast from the evening before. They put a canula in before you go to the endoscopy room. Then they say now you'll start to feel a bit sleepy.... then what seems like seconds later, they are calling your name and its all done! You wait a couple of hours then go home. You might get tea and toast, at least we do in our hospital. You need someone to collect you as you aren't allowed drive til next day. You may be a bit tired but fine. You might want someone else to cook the dinner that evening let's say.
