toddler with mouth ulcers - contagious?

Hello all,

My 15m dd has mouth ulcers (tongue, side of mouth, prob more I can't see).. It kicked off with a slight fever on Saturday night, followed by disturbed sleep ever since. Fine when awake though unsurprisingly off food. Only spotted the ulcers yesterday, now there are spots on the outside corners of her mouth too. Took her to the doc today, he said not to worry, ulcers, she's run down after a virus a few weeks ago. No spots etc anywhere else, although her excema has flared up again.

Thing is, I am worried, mainly because I am pg and 2 weeks off due date and am concerned about contagious illnesses and newborns..

Do I trust the doctor? Or do I get it double checked?

I would get it double checked. Have you googled for "Hand, Foot and Mouth"?

Yes I have but DD has (as yet?) no sores on feet or hands.

Doc rejected it as a possibility, for what thats worth.

It sounds like you don't quite trust the doctor, why not get a second opinion?
