He's the kng of Man Flu so for the last week or so I've been more or less ignoring his complaints of pain in his back etc. I said he might have a water infection and to call the GP, DP then decided he has kidney stones which progressed on to various forms of cancer by last night. Well now he's actually gone to A&E in pain and I'm terriifed. I've also had his Mum on the phone saying she thnks he's going to have a breakdown, how self absorbed have I been!?

Don't blame yourself. Men are generally over dramatic about being ill and the chances are it will be something minor. I do hope so. Are you going to A&E to be with him?

NappiesLaChristmasGit · 19/11/2007 17:23

what nab said.

TheMadHouse · 19/11/2007 17:25

I have to agree. I also say that DH has man flu and just shrug it off. I do hope that DH is OK though

choosyfloosy · 19/11/2007 17:25

So he was in pain and you suggested he call his GP - this was unsupportive how?? Much better to have gone to the GP in the first place, then if he needed to go to hospital he could have had a GP letter and got in much quicker.

But of course it's awful he's feeling so dreadful and I hope he gets decent treatment and feels better soon. My sister-in-law had kidney stones recently - not fun.

pyjamagirl · 19/11/2007 17:26

I had kidney stones they do have you in agony but soon sorted out.
Dont worry about been unsupportive my dp once fell down the stairs and cos his mother was here she onsisted we rang an ambulance for him.
I was 8 months pregnant at the time and knewhe was fine ,everytime his mother had her back to me I was holding my fist up at him and giving him vile looks ,I wouldn't even go in the ambulance with him I got my mum to take me.
The hospital sent him home after two hours .
Men are big babies when they are ill it's one of my ranty subjects so I shall sign off now by saying I hope he is ok and don't worry hugs xxxxxxx

Yeah, my dh said he had a pain in his man bits. He was convinced he had cancer etc.. (he was my boyfriend at the time)

He took the day off work saying his testicles ached when he stood up.

I called me @ work saying he was calling the doctor out. The doctor give him painkillers.

The next day he drove himself to A&E where he had to be operated on for a twisted testicle

I felt awful... he couldn't walk for ages as it was so sore.

So wildwoman, you're not the only one to turn a deaf ear to the goings on of your dp/dh. Hope he's Ok though

loopylou6 · 19/11/2007 17:26

aw poor bloke, maybe u could stick ur tail between your legs an go to A&E to support him, sounds like he could do with it, dont beat yaself up though, like the others said, men can be overly dramatic

wildwoman · 19/11/2007 17:27

NAB3littlemonkeys · 19/11/2007 17:29

Well, let her go or have the kids so you can go!

loopylou6 · 19/11/2007 17:29

yeah if she dissaproves, she can look after them so u can go

wildwoman · 19/11/2007 17:29

Have you see Everybody Loves Raymond? My MIL is Marie

fireflyfairy2 · 19/11/2007 17:30

Oh god... poor you!

Let her go, or else let her come & mind the kids.

Mercy · 19/11/2007 17:35

Well, I'm afraid I have to disagree with some here. Ime men are terrible when they have very minor health problems (man flu type stuff) but are generally pretty reluctant to see a Dr when there is something actually wrong with them.

I really hope your dh is ok though. Perhaps your MIL should go to the hospital.

(and you are not an unsupportive cow at all btw)

wildwoman · 19/11/2007 17:37

Hopefully I will be on here gloating about my origional diagnosis tomorrow better go dd1 want the computer.

wildwoman · 20/11/2007 16:20

Well a quick update, DP is fine surprise surprise! No kidney failure they think it is more likely to be muscular! I feel rather smug.
