Stroke Secondary to Atrial Fibrillation

I have recently had a stroke. Not the ordinary kind. I have no paralysis, no facial dragging, no speech issues, no cognition issues. HOWEVER, my balance and coordination are horrible right now, and my concentration is shot. They should recover to about 95%, though. I am very lucky.

This kind of stroke has symptoms that I was not aware of, so I wanted to let you all know what happened.

On Thursday night, as I was getting out of the bath, my vision went totally black for only a second or two. During that time, I saw flashing neon colors and shapes, then my vision came back. Just after that, I started hearing my heartbeat in one ear. I could HEAR the uneven beat. I felt fine, though, and made a note to tell my doctor at my June 1st appointment. Saturday morning, I went to the kitchen for a drink of juice, the room spun, and I was face-first on the floor. Two and a half weeks later, I came home from hospital to recover.

These two symptoms are NOT mentioned in almost any stroke literature. PLEASE BE AWARE and PAY ATTENTION! If you have EITHER OF THEM, call for help immediately! BE SAFE!!!

Thanks OP. It sounds as though, despite what you’ve been through, you have been quite lucky!
Wishing you a speedy recovery, I hope things improve for you soon Flowers

Thank you for your post. I live in fear of having a stroke or heart attack due to the huge stress I'm living under at the moment, and many illnesses. Recovered from cancer, just been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. A friend's husband who was type 2, died of a silent heart attack related to it. I am my dd's carer so need to stay alive!

I hope that this helps keep you safer! I, too, have type 2, although no history of heart issues.

@Howmanychangesdoiget, I have been incredibly lucky. I had never read about these to symptoms before, and wanted to share them.
