Small lumps on scalp

I've recently discovered a few lump like growths on my scalp. At first I thought they were spots but I've had a couple of people look and they say they're not spots. Sometimes my scalp is a little bit itchy but they're generally painless. I noticed the biggest one a few weeks ago and since then I've noticed I've got a few more. I'm pretty sure I've had a couple since I was a teenager but I never thought anything of it as I just thought they were spots and then forgot they were there! Have booked an appointment with GP but it's not for 2 weeks and it's a telephone consultation!! Mum has described some of them as wart like (I suffered from warts as a child) but the newest one I've discovered doesn't look very warty and it seems to have appeared in the last couple of days.

Any ideas!? I've attached a couple of photos. Newest one has red outline.

Also 36 weeks preggo so wondering if hormones could have anything to do with it?? But that doesn't explain the ones I've had since I was younger.

They look almost like moles ? Are they permanently there once they arrive or do they come and then go again ?

They look like small sebaceous cysts. Completely harmless but occasionally can get large enough to be noticeable or get ‘caught’ when combing hair, sometimes get infected. They are easily removed under local anaesthetic but most GP’s no longer do this routinely as the procedure is classed cosmetic rather than essential, so you might have to go privately if you wish them removed.

Yes as far as I'm aware they're always there once they appear. I have really thick curly hair so they're hidden well and I use a shampoo brush when washing my hair so I forget they're there as I'm not always touching them. I do get very oily skin in general though and I have quite a few moles but none that look similar to that!

I've suffered with terrible back/shoulder acne all pregnancy too

Just wondering what happened with those lumps??

Benign naevus - I have the same and had one removed from my scalp in March - had it since I was a kid but was catching in my brush and was getting sore - it was really raised by then - I have a couple of others but they are still fairly flat. I was shocked by how much hair I lost when they removed it - I had waist length hair and for months had a side growing spike of hair out of my head!

@AnaTe sorry for delayed reply! Spoke to a GP about them and he suggested folliculitis and gave me antibiotic cream which did nothing except make hair really greasy🙄 I also asked my hairdresser as she sees a lot of scalps and she said they do look like folliculitis or sebaceous cysts. I've had a couple more pop up which I haven't had checked out but they all seem to fluctuate in size - when hair needs washing they're a bit bigger and when just washed they're smaller so think they're related to oily scalp.

Hi there, no worries, also an update from my side. I went to my dermatologist and he said nothing to worry about, just checking once per year as all moles. 🙂
