Repeat blood tests!

Hi, I am getting myself in a tangle. Hubby went for his routine blood tests today. I think it's every 6 months. He has high blood pressure so is on amlodipine 5mg, Losartin100mg and omeprazole 20mg. He went for bloods this morning and was sent a text saying one of his tests needs repeating. The drs was closed when he got the text. I'm panicking! He's been taking protein powder etc. Could that have effected it?

Is he having 6 monthly blood tests because of his high bp or another condition? Anyway I guess by this morning he’ll have had the repeat test or arranged for one. It happens but I agree it can be alarming.

Thanks for your reply. It is his urea and electrolyte test which is out of range according to the receptionist. He goes back next Friday to repeat it. We asked dr google (I know!!!) and it said about raised levels of creatin. Hubby is taking creatin and protein supplements for training. He's rung the dr and asked if he should carry on with supplements and the dr said to continue and just repeat the test. I'm not sure if how long it would take for the creatin supplement to leave his body but I've asked him to stop with it until Friday. I really panic.

I know, I now make myself stay off google because it makes me panic even more, instead of reassuring me!

I would suspect one of the samples was lost, contaminated or insufficient to test.

Please don't worry. The most likely issue is that his potassium or creatinine levels were a bit high. If there was anything seriously wrong he would have been sent to A&E to have them repeated immediately

Thank you so much for your replies. I hate the waiting.

His kidney function is 10-1. Apparently that is high. He had a repeat test on Friday and the dr is phoning him tomorrow afternoon!

Could he have a kidney infection?
