Lumps behind my ears

I don't usually have any sort of health anxiety so this is a new one on me...but it's just so mysterious.

I've been getting lumps/cysts at the top, behind and under my ears for a while now - probably a year or two. They feel a bit like blisters, definitely filled with fluid, the biggest they ever get is about the size of a kidney bean and sometimes they weep (sorry...maybe I should have put this in sporners corner!) Both ears, though the most consistent one that doesn't go away is behind my right ear (I sleep on my left side so not caused by pressure or anything). They're definitely not acne spots, not caused by glasses or facemask loops.

GP first said eczema, as I do have pompholyx eczema on my feet, but steroid cream brought no change. Then I was put on a week of antibiotics, no change again. Finally I have been given a blood test as GP thought maybe some kind of deficiency?

I've got another one coming up behind my left ear today, right ear lump is still there. It makes my whole head feel tight and throbbing when they come up.

Any ideas? Googling comes up with lymph nodes in all the areas where I am having these lumps...which worries me as my uncle had Hodgkins lymphoma and it started with lumps in his neck.

Since I posted this earlier my headache has just become worse and worse... I never get headaches normally. Ugh I wish I could stop worrying about this, unfortunately the rest of my family is pretty anxious about health stuff so I generally keep these worries to myself.

I’m in a different medical system where seeing specialists is easier. I think you need to see a dermatologist. It might not be dermatological, but it could be and if it is that would be much less scary. If it is cysts forming and then draining, just the pressure in such a sensitive area could cause headaches.

I get these occasionally, I don’t think it’s that unusual but if you are getting a lot it’s annoying. Agree with PP re seeing a dermatologist - GPS are pretty poor at skin conditions. A referral will take some time - if you can stump up a couple hundred quid you could go private to speed it up. In the meantime keep the skin clean and well moisturised and avoid touching it as it causes irritation.

I get those when I wear certain types of earrings

I have a nickel allergy and my ear lobes and prone to swelling/reacting when I wear cheap earrings but these lumps were horrible and took a few weeks to go down

If you wear earrings, can you take them out for a few weeks and see if it helps?
