Worried. Awaiting bt results

I rang my GP this morning, told him my concerns:

  • Abdominal swelling. My belly went down after I had baby 7 months ago but since Feb/March I look almost full term again
  • Lower backpain. I've had that since birth tbh so I don't know if it's related
  • Bowel changes. I have always suffered with chronic constipation which worsened in pregnancy last year but since baby it's always either hard painful poo or cramps and an urgent loose motion..sorry tmi I know but trying to give the full picture
- Flatulence. Been very gassy recently and alot of gurgling sounds. I get quite bloated after eating, particularly a carb heavy meal. - Tiredness and achey body. I get very tired all of a sudden and it could be lack of sleep and rest with a non-sleeping baby. But a simple task like washing the dishes has me wiped out.

No indigestion, frequent weeing or abdominal pain as such.

I should add I am mid 30s, probably not as active as I should be but I'm definitely not overweight. Other than big belly I'm currently a size 8-10. Alot of these symptoms could be expained away as I had a baby a few months ago but I honestly feel really worried something isn't quite right with me.

GP was very concerned which I think has freaked me out more. He insisted I get booked in for an urgent BT so I went in at lunchtime and had a FBC done. He also wanted a stool sample but that will have to wait until tomorrow as no sign of anything yet. No ovarian or breast cancer in the family but we do have thyroid issues. My diet isn't as green as I'd like so I'm guessing I may be lacking in vitmains too.

I get BT results on Friday. I'm trying not to think about it but every time I look at the baby I get so emotional and think what if Sad

It’s awful waiting but it could be several things and it’s very unlikely to be the worst case you’re thinking of. Coeliac for instance?

Worried54321 · 26/05/2021 19:09

Thanks @Bumblesbumbles. Yes it could possibly be coeliac disease although I haven't had any indigestion, nausea or vomiting. But checking the symptoms list online it says skin rash (dermatitis) and I do have that on the back of one hand.

I forgot to add in original post I have PCOS so is it worth pushing for a scan incase it is an ovarian cyst?

I have coeliac and had no vomiting or nausea. But hold onto the the fact that the worst case scenario is so unlikely. It’s horrible waiting though. Scan may be a good idea with the bloating

Yes I wonder if you’re coeliac. I am. It can get worse after birth!

Worried54321 · 26/05/2021 22:25

That's interesting! The only person I know with CD is my primary school aged DNephew and I remember him projectile vomiting as a toddler pre diagnosis.

Will they be able to pick up CD in the blood test I wonder?

Okay, BT results are back. (I'm impressed, only had them taken yeaterday). GP wants me to repeat them in 4 weeks, nothing really flagged up but they want to check the liver and renal again. Receptionist booked me in for a phone consultation early next week at my insistence, I told her I want to discuss the results with the nurse.

Frustratingly I haven't been able to give a stool sample in, stupid constipation! It'll have to wait until next week now.

But I'm guessing it's a good thing? If there was anything sinister it would have flagged up?

Good that the bloods were ok. Just to say they have to do a separate blood test for coeliac so may be worth checking they included it

Thanks, I will bring it up with the nurse when I speak to her on Tuesday. And also ask about a scan to check for any cysts. My abdomen feels very heavy and hard I don't think its due just to constipation.
