What does a sprained ankle feel like?

For the last two weeks almost, one ankle has been more swollen than the other, painful & hard to walk on it (but I can manage)
I'm 35 weeks pregnant so thought maybe down to that. But one is much more swollen than the other which is concerning me, I also haven't injured it or twisted it?!
What does it feel like to have a sprained ankle?

If you haven't injured it or twisted it it isn't a sprained ankle, have you told your midwife that your ankle is swollen and painful?

Yes I have, they told me to contact the pregnancy unit and I did but they didn't want to see me
