Hi ladies, would appreciate some advice on my current dilemma.
Im on my second night of a stay in hospital due to ovarian cyst pain. On Saturday evening the pain was so bad it was comparable to labour pains and I passed out in the middle of the night from it. Sunday was better but still struggling to stand up straight and in the end called 111 who initially thought appendicitis and bought me into hospital where I still am.
Pain is much better today although still tender and a scan has shown a 5cm cyst which the doctor thinks has twisted causing the pain and needed to be removed. Was prepped for surgery this afternoon then at 5.45pm the consultant came along and said that as the pain was improving they would keep me in for another night for observations but likely that they wouldn't operate and would re-scan me in 6 weeks time. My bloods were still showing signs of an infection this morning but I don't have a raised temp.
Has anyone else experienced a twisted ovarian cyst and if so, was it just a one off episode or did it happen again? The pain was horrendous and the only reason it is better now is because I've been resting in bed for over 24 hours without having a 2 and 5 year old climbing on me. I dont know whether to push for the procedure or just leave it to resolve itself with the help of painkillers. Any advice gratefully received!
