We don't have private health care. We are in our early 60s. We're willing to pay. Can anybody recommend a provider (Blue Crest, BUPA) where we can pay for a one-off health check? We are not rich, so good value is important too!

Your local private hospital will offer a package. Just phone up and ask. There will probably be a different price depending on what tests you want - chest X-ray, ultrasound of ovaries, full body MRI, colonoscopy etc.

I saw Nuffield health offers some packages. If just tests thriva and medichecks.

I don’t think a full body scan is a good idea. It’s likely to find some kind of anomaly that will likely be harmless but could lead to harmful investigations and stress.

It would be better to get some blood tests, make sure things like diabetes is tested for, blood pressure etc.

Obviously if you have existing health issues or a family history more in-depth tests might be warranted but there is such a thing as over testing, especially in the ‘worried well’.

Thanks for your replies.
To be honest, I was a bit shocked when I saw the prices of the Nuffield checks!
@bluetongue, sounds like the kind of thing I might get from my local GP? A decade or so ago they called me in and did some routine tests to ascertain risk of heart disease over the next 10 years. I can enquire, when things settle down in the medical world, if they do something similar now.
