Get some advice - phone the docs and ask to speak to the nurse.

GeorginaA · 03/11/2004 16:30

agree with mum2girls...

... I've never been able to feel my strings at all - this worries me greatly.

MissHoolie · 03/11/2004 16:33

Oh GeorginaA I am so glad someone else can't feel theirs. I worry about mine all the time cause I can't. YG - go get it checked.

Bozza · 03/11/2004 16:35

Go to the doctor and get sent for a scan yorkiegirl. Surely chances are fairly low that you might be .... You're still breastfeeding aren't you?

Neither doc nor I can feel my threads and so am having scan on 17 Nov. Doctor wouldn't say that I was safe (contraceptively) despite exclusive breast feeding and coil insertion so we've been using condoms as well. Esp now that I've started weaning DD.

There have been a LOT of threads about coils recently.

Bozza · 03/11/2004 16:37

And Georgina I've fallen out with you because you posted on Maybabies that you'd only had slight spotting on coil insertion whereas I had 3 bouts of heavy bleeding in 6 weeks despite exclusive breast feeding. ;)

Bozza · 03/11/2004 16:37

Sorry that last bit was meant to be a to prove that I haven't really fallen out with G but am just a bit

Bozza · 03/11/2004 16:39

PS What shall I tell the guys at work re needing time off for my scan?

GeorginaA · 03/11/2004 16:47

Oops, sorry Bozza

If it's any consolation, I still seem to get half a day of chronic period pain a month but only accompanied by slight spotting.

TBH, I'd prefer more bloodflow and less pain, but maybe that's just me

Bozza · 03/11/2004 16:52

Well Georgina there are supposed to take 3-6 months to settle down so hopefully we'll both see an improvement.

Will be thinking of you - hope it goes well and is just a false alarm.

Don't suppose you can gather advice on how to feel the threads while you're there and post it on here, could you?

Okay, so that's me being a bit cheeky...

Let us know how it goes yorkiegirl. I had a friend who's coil disappeared (sorry you don't really need to hear things like this!) and she sort of lost faith in it and at much the same time her 9mo has decided to stop breast feeding so she's going back on the pill.

Furball · 04/11/2004 12:35

My coils gone the other way as in up and my inch or so long strings have nearly completely with mm disappeared!!! Due for a check next week, don't really want anyone rummaging though, maybe they'll have to get a metal detector to find it

I am paranoid - really do not need a 4th child in 5 years (or ever!)

ChristmasBOOZA · 15/12/2004 09:48

Pleased for you yorkiegirl. Mine has gone AWOL and I'm not sure whether to have another fitted or not. It has affected my confidence.
