I had my tonsils out years ago.
I've had a sore throat and a nicely swollen gland for the last couple of days but couldn't see anything out of the ordinary.
However, I had a look a while ago and found that I have an infected patch on the end of my uvula. Confused
I'm waiting for a call back from OOH as I think I need antibiotics, but whilst I'm waiting, has anyone ever heard of this?

It's not that red in real life - I had to fiddle with the contrast to make the patch visible.

Might be thrush?

mineofuselessinformation · 23/05/2021 17:36

Haven't got it anywhere else in my mouth, and it's painful. I used to get lots of bouts of tonsillitis, and it looks the same.

Gargle with diluted hydrogen peroxide. If it's bacterial it will get rid of it without antibiotics affecting you tummy etc. It fuzzes and tastes vile but you'll feel better after a few episodes gargling 3 hours apart.

It looks like an ulcer x

@Twinkie01, I've got antibiotics. I'm literally due to return to work tomorrow after a bout of sciatica, so really can't afford to take time off or feel grotty.

The hydrogen peroxide if it is bacterial will speed up getting better if you use it.

Have you found out why you have sciatica. I had a v tight piriformis muscle which caused dreadful sciatica and fixed it through stretching. If it's due to disc issues don't try stretching though!

mineofuselessinformation · 23/05/2021 19:31

@Twinkie01, mine is piriformis syndrome too. I've seen an osteopath, and got exercises to do. Two weeks on it's still like a guitar string, but I can walk now!
It's clearly not my month, is it? Grin
