Small hard lump on finger

A couple of weeks ago I noticed a small, hard pea sized lump on the front of my middle left finger, on top of the lower joint.A quick Google doesn't really reveal anything sinister (minimal mentions of the C word!), the most common suggestion is a ganglion, although it suggests they are soft, this feels rock hard.

In normal times I would get a non-urgent doctors appointment but ours still aren't really seeing anyone so it'll be a phone appointment which I can't see being much use. If they ask me to send a photo I don't think it'll be clear as pretty small, so again a waste of time.

Safe to ignore? It's not bothering me, doesn't hurt and isn't growing. Only thing I can think of is that I regularly lift 4kg weights as part of a fitness class I do so wondered if trauma from that as I do grip them quite hard!

Thanks in advance.

My best friend had something similar, it turned out to be a benign cyst. Best to get it checked out. If you have one, I find getting an appointment with the Nurse Practioner much easier at the surgery.

My wrist ganglion disappears when my wrist is flat, but when I bend it, it appears, and is rock hard, not soft!
