Infection after extractions

I had 2 teeth extracted on Wednesday at the dentist. They were just stumps really as had been under a bridge before it fell out. One was a bit tricky to get out, took ages. Not surprisingly I was in a lot of pain on weds and Thursday but manageable on codeine. Yesterday the pain seemed to be getting better but today I've woken up with severe pain again. It is bearable now as I've taken yet more codeine but I'm wondering if I have an infection.

Does this sound normal, or if not, can it wait until my dentist opens again on Monday?

I had a back tooth extracted two weeks ago and I had some pain for five days. However the dentist had given me a course of anti biotics and told me to use saltwater mouth wash regularly. I hope you feel better soon.
