Blood pressure

Had my blood pressure checked and bloods done this morning after being advised to by the optician as I had a tiny burst vessel in my eye which I could see as a little flash of light in my vision. We have had a pretty stressful May so far.

Anyway, BP was 120/60 which from what I understand is on the high limit of normal.

It wasn't the best situation, I had my toddler in tow in the pushchair, had just walked quickly from the bus stop to the surgery and didn't really have time to sit in the waiting room for long, and she did the BP reading before the blood test, which I was feeling anxious about.

Realistically, how much could those things give an elevated BP reading?

You can probably tell I'm a worrier Confused

I’m not sure where you read that 120/60 is on the high side of normal? Normal BP is usually considered to be 120/80 or lower, so yours seems to be fine.

@NanTheWiser yes, I did read that as well. It's a bit confusing. There's a bit on the NHS website where you can input your BP and it shows you on a chart. I've attached a photo.

Obvious I'm waiting for the blood results too, and hopefully nothing comes of them.

I suppose I could exercise a bit more and cut down on salt a little.

I’m rather surprised at that graph! I really don’t think your reading is anything to worry about, but as you are having investigations done, no doubt any problems will be addressed.

@NanTheWiser thank you for the reassurance. I'm going to just try and forget about it for now!

120/80 is normal, no need for concern about that reading.

Anything from 140/90 and above would be considered High from what I can remember

@FadedRed thank you. I really get myself worked up over these things.
