my dh fractured his index finger last week - at a&e they strapped the finger to the other finger and he's kept that on all week. We went back today and they took it off and said to start stretching it and all would be well soon. I forgot to ask when he could do PE at school and he wants to play rugby in Sunday- surley that's too soon? Anyone got any experience ? it's still a little swollen and bruised

bless him. When ds1 broke his arm was off sport for at least 6 weeks. When he had tonsils i think it was 4 weeks.

Ds got his rugby match on sunday, only tag but they need those fingers to grab the tag. Tbh i wouldnt risk it yet.

How old is he?

LucyLasticBand · 16/11/2007 22:49

does he go to school then your DH?

LucyLasticBand · 16/11/2007 22:50

ring the clinic? probably best, speak to the sister, normally a fountain of knowledge

elliot3 · 16/11/2007 22:50

he's only 7 but loves it and is desperate to take part, don't know what to do for best, at that gae they tend to run about a lot rather than go into scrums

If he's 7 it'll just be tag rugby, presumably? I'd be inclined to say he can start playing again once he can use the finger/hand normally.

lemonaid · 16/11/2007 23:03

(since if he can't use it properly he won't be able to grab the tag)

did he play then? We managed about an hour but was very very wet, wind and cold. So all finished very quickly and came home to a lovely warm bath and egg muffins.
