I have major health anxiety and just had an endoscopy last month which showed up my chronic gastric and soon hpylori. Took the antibiotics, but GP ran blood tests which showed I'm definitely anemic, but the worse part is that I had stool test that detected blood in stool. GP wants me to go back to see gastro now. Can't stop crying now and I know I will probably need to do a colonoscopy soon after i have the meeting with my gastro. I never noticed blood in my stool and she said it was microscopic amounts. Please can anyone call me down. I'm so scared...

Don't worry! If it was microscopic amounts it's most likely nothing to be concerned about, your gp is just being very thorough which is excellent!

Also I had h pylori, it was awful for years, I was always throwing up and having bowel problems, was fobbed off by the gp, changed surgery and my new dr prescribed me the h pylori eradication course and it's all better now!

@opmamatrist thank you so much for replying, I have to do that prep today for colonoscopy and I'm so frightened already. I'm worried I might faint.

I also went to do an ultrasound for my colon and pelvis yesterday and radiologist said all looked clear. Shouldn't that help reassure me even though I know I have to still do the colonoscopy? Sorry it's just that my anxiety is really kicking in, I've never felt so scared in my life Sad

Oh sweetheart, don't worry so much, I read that only a small proportion of people with a positive FIT end up being diagnosed with a serious illness. There are many benign explanations for microscopic amounts of blood. Best of luck with the prep!

Don't worry lovely, once the colonoscopy is over it'll give you piece of mind too. I've never had one myself but know of people who have and they have said it's a relatively quick procedure xx

I have had two colonoscopies after finding small amounts of blood . I opted for the sedative and only found it mildly uncomfortable. They found small polyps which they removed at the time and job done . Hope all goes well for you . The prep was worse than the procedure!

Thank you so much for your support, it's really helped me get thru this. Colonoscopy was completed this morning. Was told everything looks normal and bleeding was from some internal piles. As ppl have commented, prep was the worst bit but I managed it and it wasn't as bad as I expected!
