After tooth extraction last Friday. The pain is actually unbearable. Waiting for dentist to call me back with appointment but how will they treat it when my mouth also won't open wide enough to fit a spoon in? There is no way they are going to be able to reach it. Sad

What painkillers are you on?
Did they prescribe antibiotics?

JobGloves · 12/05/2021 11:48

Yes antibiotics and painkillers just paracetamol and ibuprofen but it's not even touching the pain. I always get a stiff jaw after anything dental related but much worse this time.

Sounds like you could do with some codeine added in to regular paracetamol and ibuprofen, I would ask the dentist when you speak to them, as when the pain is under control, you'll be able to open your mouth. Assuming you can tolerate codeine, that is. And take it all regularly, 4-6 hourly to avoid peaks and troughs. Best of luck.

It's so horrid. I want to bang my head against a brick wall. I've never known pain like it

Hope you get some sleep tonight.

Warm saltwater rinses. Did you smoke after the extraction?

JobGloves · 12/05/2021 23:39

No I don't smoke or anything. Just pure bad luck. Sad
