Dd2 coughing and screeming, has she got something in her throat?

She has done this a couple times in the past few days, she goes from being happy to screeming, coughing and gagging.

She eats anything she can lay her hands on, could she have something in her throat or would she be screeming all the time if she did?

I dont know what to do with her as she is screeming so load and almost being sick.

I have tried giving her water but she's still the same.

She is also reatching into her mouth.

She's 20 months old

Is she teething?

I dont think so, i think all her teeth are through, she's just been sick (phlem) and is still coughing.

does the cough sound like a bark?

if so, it could be croup

Sounds realy dry (even though she's bringing up phlem), it sound's realy painful.

Sore throat of some kind? Does she have a temperature?

She's warm but i think its caused by the crying for age's. Its just come on all of a sudden.

Could it be a reaction to something, she's just eaten her dinner?

What had she just eaten when she started to cry? Was it something scratchy like a breadstick that has hurt her throat?

She could have the same as me..I have a cough at the moment, and when i am coughing it feels like I am swallowing acid or knives..its bloomin' sore..if I was 20 months old and not 35 I think I'd be screaming and crying when I coughed too!

If your DD still has a sore throat try giving her some Calpol before half an hour before meals. It helped my DS a couple of weeks ago when he had a sore throat and a cough.

Actually you might have the same thing we had where we had a cough and a sore throat but it seemed to get worse in the early evening and then be painful all night but wore off during the day. Very odd.

Marne, how is dd today? It's really hard to work out what's going on when they can't tell you isn't it?

Last night ds was coughing so hard that he vomited all over his bed and today he says his throat is sore. There is a strange cough bug that's been around for about a month.
