Vitamin D

I know there was a poster that was really helpful about it!
My levels were really low and I got put on a prescription dose for 8 weeks (levels were about 9). Anyway I had repeat bloods, but they won't tell me the level/results except to carry on taking OTC supplements Hmm
I'm currently on 4000IU a day plus the 400 in my multivitamin, should I just carry on with that?

Yes I would say so.

You can always ask for a print out of results, receptionists usually oblige.

StillRailing · 07/05/2021 15:28

Why won't they tell you results, do they say?

I take OTC and the one I buy is 1000 IU, fwiw!

QueenPaw · 07/05/2021 15:33

🤷🏽‍♀️ I've asked and been told "normal"
Said I wanted the actual number and got a voice mail saying "normal but take OTC"
I only managed to get the low number as I got someone who isn't on reception!
I'm looking at changing doctors once things are a bit more normal as they missed my non existent white cell count for 8 years

My GP is similar. we have nowhere else to go.🤷

QueenPaw · 07/05/2021 15:38

I hate accepting "normal" as apparently my TSH was "normal"
It was 7.5
My neutrophils were "normal"
They were 0.3 (meant to be between 2 and 8)

Ask to collect or receive in the post a print out of your results. If pushed say you need them for a private appointment. They can't refuse to send you your own results.

Mindfullness · 07/05/2021 15:47

If you have online access you should be able to access them all on there.

QueenPaw · 07/05/2021 15:48

No online access, won't email them as not secure, won't post as "covid" and building locked up annoyingly so can't go in

OP posts:
StillRailing · 07/05/2021 15:49

I noticed my practice say this about contacting then online bit that it's not secure. It's put me off too.

StillRailing · 07/05/2021 15:49

but..

QueenPaw · 07/05/2021 15:53

Yeah I don't have the time to argue with them either, sometimes it's 45-60 mins to get through and if there's more than 15 people queuing it cuts you off Hmm

I don't get any sun really weekdays at all so think probably best sticking around the max dose

OP posts:
StillRailing · 07/05/2021 16:01

Mmm. Check online about MAXIMUM advised. Too much could end up doing harm over time as it can accumulate in the body, unlike say Vitamin C. Good luck anyway!

QueenPaw · 07/05/2021 16:09

Google seems to say 4000 and take with k2. My multivitamin has the recommended k2 dose in so that's sorted. Realistically I forget the vitamin d twice a week so I reckon I'm ok!

StillRailing · 07/05/2021 16:10

The benefits I'd forgetfulness. I'm the same.

StillRailing · 07/05/2021 16:11

Of!

StillRailing · 07/05/2021 16:11

I do get sun though this spring has been too cold so far.
