Hi @Bells3032, any chance it could be trigger finger? The is the pain on the palm aspect only of the finger? Difficult to straighten after being bent a while? Or is it in a different place?

@CherryLeaf i am not sure. the pain seems to be mostly at the bottom and back of the finger and hurts when i both bend and straighten it

Can you self refer to physio where you are? It’s hard to say what it could be but single index finger RSI would be unusual. Is it better with rest on the weekend? If it is, try using your thumb on the mouse instead of index finger to allow it to rest more... it will feel weird using a mouse that way but less weird than switching whole mouse to left hand, which is the other option. Maybe anti inflammatories might help (if you know they are safe for you to take?). Sometimes splinting it to the next door finger can also provide rest but this will make typing impossible. Frozen peas to help calm any swelling. If it’s not settling I’d seek a physio referral, if it is trigger finger a small injection can sort it.
