Dry skin around mole- anyone else experienced this?

Hello,
Has anyone noticed dry skin around a mole that hasn’t gone away? I have quite a few moles and this particular one is on my back so isn’t checked regularly, however around a month ago I noticed a dry area below the mole, and today the dry are is still there but the mole also has a black mark.

Anyone experienced anything similar with such minor changes to a mole?

Photo on left is mole 3 weeks ago and on the right is just now. The lighting changes how light/dark it appears. Not sure if I’m seeing things or whether the shape is changing and scabbing or whether it’s just a scratch! The skin still feels rough and dry although doesn’t show up as much as the first image.

First time posting (I think)!
Ta x

The fact that you ask the question is a good enough reason to see a doctor.

Probably nothing but if it's something then better to get it looked at now.

2 colour mole, scaling, asymmetrical shape all good reasons to just get it checked out and if it's nothing then no harm done.

It's hard to compare the two because the lighting is different. But agree with PP best to see a doctor.

It does look like a scratch but I'm no doctor and best to get these things checked out.

Please see a GP OP. My Mum had a dry crusty patch of skin like that and it was a basal cell carcinoma. It’s a non malignant cancer so not the nasty one but she still had to have it removed.

I’m not saying this is what you have but she put off having it checked for months until it got really itchy and bled.

Please just get it checked Flowers

Hello, thank you for replying. Was her patch of skin like the dark area on the actual mole or the dry patch below?
Yes, I’ll book an appointment. I guess I have waited incase they just say it is dry skin and to put some cream on it! I will book 🙂

Thank you x

Hi OP, the dry patch below.

I understand that, GPs are like unicorn poop at the moment and I usually wouldn’t want to bother them with dry skin either 🙂 but I just want you to check it’s ok.

Very likely it’s nothing but I couldn’t not say anything, just in case Flowers

Hi OP, best to get the mole checked - it is more than likely fine - but best to be sure. I have lots of moles, some flake regularly (the Dr says they are a certain type that do this) - I can't remember one with offset flaking like yours but some of mine look a bit grim but are still OK!
