Lump on collarbone

Hello
I have discovered a movable lump on my left collarbone. Trying not to panic and will go to GP as soon as I can bit wondered if anyone can offer advice please?
It's hard, moves and a bit uncomfortable. Could it be a lymph node? I had the covid vaccine 12 days ago and wondered if it could be that?
Thanks.

Yes, this happened to me after my second Pfizer jab. It’s completely normal, and means you are fighting off the infection. Don’t worry, it will pass.

MummaPI · 02/05/2021 09:15

Thank you that's reassuring.

No worries, mine felt the size of a small grape. It’s gone now. Watch and wait for a bit and if it’s still there in a few weeks time see your GP.

MummaPI · 02/05/2021 09:24

Yes thats the same size as mine, bit sore too? Thought the vaccine would do this sooner, I had the Moderna.

I also had this after my second Pfizer jab and so did a couple of my work colleagues. Took a couple of weeks to go.

MummaPI · 02/05/2021 09:43

Good to know, thanks all.

Please get it checked by a gp. Don’t make assumptions about your health based on others experience on the internet.

I also got lymph nodes sore/ you could feel in armpit! I spoke to a nurse who had one one collarbone. We both had it after second Pfizer.
It was away by 3 weeks though so hopefully yours will go too.

MummaPI · 02/05/2021 09:49

I will get it checked, but just wondered about the vaccine. Thanks.

Seen the GP, he says there are 2 lymph nodes up close together and thinks its reactive to the jab or a virus but most likely the jab. He says they can take up to 6 weeks to go down and go back if they get bigger or more appear.

Glad you saw the GP and it’s nothing to worry about.

Thank you @lissie123

Hi @MummaPI thanks for letting us know how you got on. I've got the same thing after Pfizer. The day after I had a sore lump on my collarbone, it's been 6 days so far. I keep poking at it to check if it's smaller, somehow despite this it is reducing in size Grin
I've got an appointment with doc on Thursday but it's very reassuring that you and others have experienced this and that it might take a while to go down. I just need to be patient!! Thanks again, glad you're ok.

Hi there

I've just rung 111 with this same issue and am waiting a call back. I have a swollen lump just below my left collarbone. I had my first jab 18 days ago, felt rubbish for a few days and now this has popped up.

Surely it's the same thing? It's tender to touch and my left side of my body feels achey today. I had the jab on my left.

Qualia81 · 18/06/2021 13:34

I think it's very likely to be the same thing. I don't think the side effects of the vaccine are very well understood though - but there are so many people who have had the same thing. Don't poke it! It takes time to go down - mine is still there 6 weeks later but much smaller than it was.

Yorkshirelass04 · 18/06/2021 14:04

I've taken some ibuprofen will that help? I keep massaging it as I originally thought it was a muscle knot! It's so sore.

Honestly I have been iller from the jab than I might have been with covid!

Waiting for 111 to call back; I'm hoping they don't insist on tests etc as I'm pretty sure it's a jab side effect and really they should know about these cases

Please let me know what 111 say. I've had mine for 7 weeks now, started 11 days after my first jab.

As an update - I had a chat with my GP eventually and he said it would either be a lymph node or a cyst. He said if it doesn't go away in the next few weeks to come in. He's a nice doctor but I felt more knowledgeable having googled this as a covid side effect. I'm pleased to at least have it on record so they can monitor this as trend.
Anyway it's gone down lots and not as painful so hopefully on the mend now.
Hope you are all keeping well x

Hi, I too have had a lump come up on my collarbone. Found it by chance 3 days after my second Pfizer jab. Really hoping it’s a side effect of the jab. It’s been there almost 2 weeks now. Might give it another week before I ring the doctors. I wonder if more people have it but it’s just by chance that some people notice theirs. I did put it as a side effect on the yellow card website so more people know about it and don’t panic. It’s hard not to think the worst though when you find these things 😬.

Betulb · 01/12/2021 14:10

I had a AZ vaccine on Friday afternoon and realised on Sunday little lump and on Monday getting bigger almost 4 cm ??? Do I need to worry or just wait?

Yorkshirelass04 · 02/12/2021 17:26

I would see if it clears up in a week or two if not go and see the doctor.

Dannysmomma · 25/01/2022 05:19

Hey ladies,
I also have noticed a lump above my left collarbone. I had the jab last week. The whole left side is achy, even the back of my neck. I had the moderna and was also told by GP that it’s a side effect and should resolve on its own.
