shocking pain - could it be an ovulation pain

I need some advice please - last night for roughly 4 hours I had this horrible pain. I've never had it before. I've had the odd twinge around day 14 of my cycle but this pain was so bad that it kept me awake. It was on my left side and felt like a sharp stabbing pain. Could this be me ovulating? We are trying for a baby and have been at it like rabbits for the past week and a half so I'm hoping that's what it is. Any ideas?

It does sound like it.

I get this mid-cycle, worse than the pain I get actually with AF, usually one side the one day and then maybe the other side the next day!

Quick quick, get at it

It sounds like it .I Used to get it and was so bad that on 2 occasions was hospitalised as my GP was convinced I had appendicitis

thanks ladies. Does that mean that the egg has been released so sex from now onwards is too late? Sorry - if i'm being dumb.

I have OV pain a couple of days before OV so you could still be in with a chance! Do you have egg-white CM?

EmmaJW1976 · 14/11/2007 09:43

Well I used to take the pains to mean an egg was on it's way round and to get down to it!!

And...erm...both times I got pregnant I conceived the first month I tried

Have you had any bleeding or brownish discharge? any dizziness? any pain in the tips of your shoulders? if you get any of these symptoms, you should get yourself to your GP, or even A&E, ASAP and ask to be checked over for ectopic pregnancy.

It most probably is just ovulation pain, I get this from time to time as well. I don't mean to be a scaremonger, but I had an ectopic and it is best to be vigilant and catch it early.

Good luck!

Sweetiesandcakes · 14/11/2007 10:14

No - i don't have any of those symptoms but thanks for metioning them to me as i had no idea that those were indicators of an eptopic. Sorry to hear that you had one. It must have been awful for you.
