Hi
I was wondering if there was anyone on here who had experienced kidney stones, particularly struvite ones? I’d like to ask some questions if possible please.
Thanks

I had really bad pregnancy-induced kidney stones, but I don't think they were striving, they were calcium/magnesium, infection linked.

Happy to chat though. Most painful thins I've ever experienced (and I've had 3 dc!).

Hi, thanks for your reply. Are you ok now after having the stones and have you got to have any follow ups? My daughter has been treated recently for stones but she has a slightly enlarged kidney. X

I'm fine now, thanks, though if I get a uti (more prone to them after this because of scarring from multiple small stones passing with v. sharp edges) I get very nervous, but I've not had one in 15 years. I've been discharged from the urology clinic and don't need any further follow ups now. I still drink 6-8 pints of water a day though! Some habits die hard.

My kidneys are fine, but I never had a blockage. Sounds like your daughter might do if a kidney is enlarged.

Feel free to ask about it, I'll answer if I can. I hope she's getting appropriate pain relief?

That’s good that you have only had one uti in 15 years and that you have been discharged Smile
My daughter has had a couple of lithotripsy treatments up to now and we go back to the hospital in a couple of weeks for another ultrasound. I called up the hospital to find out what the stones were made out of and I’m trying to piece it together in my head.... She had an enlarged kidney when she was 5 months old and the hospital did various tests but couldn’t pin point what was causing it. Over the years (she’s now 5) her kidney has reduced in size and is now only slightly enlarged. Everything had been fine (no signs of a uti) until we went last December for her yearly ultrasound and they found the stones. The doctors have mentioned a PUJ obstruction previously but now they didn’t think this was the case. I’m now worrying about it as my concern is that they will want to put her on life-long antibiotics or other invasive medications. I’ve also increased her liquid as she didn’t seem to be drinking much at school so I’m hoping this will have an effect to.
Did you have to have any medication after the stones for a period of time or have to have you water tested?
Sorry for rambling!
