Mid-cycle bleeding

Urgh, i've been bleeding since Friday after I came back from a run. This was only 2 weeks after my last period ended.

Also quite a lot of low period like pain. Bleed isn't as heavy as normal and I don't get pain on a normal cycle. I'd also had quite a bit of discharge week before - clear and sometimes pinky.

Usually am like clockwork, short and reasonable (not light and not heavy) flows.

I'm 40, Copper IUD. Checked strings, which seem to be there.

Really worried now. Had a phone all with the doctor monday who was a bit meh - keep an eye on it.

Should i just ride it out or bother the doc again? Perimenopause maybe?

Anyone? I've booked an apt next week which is the first they had but don't feel right at all. Difficult to know if I'm being rightly worried or not.

I'm having mid cycle spotting at the moment. I spoke to my GP today and asked if it could be perimenopause (I'm also 40) and she said that I'm too young. It's very freaky when cycle all of a sudden starts being random when you normally experience the same thing every month. I've had this going on for 4 months now. GP is investigating as it's become established but she said they usually wait a few cycles to see if it settles down by itself before investigating. Yours might be more proactive though!

@ladyflower23 oh no! I really don't want to wait a few months. I'm almost fully bleeding rather than spotting though and have pain. So it's odd and worrying. The first doctor I spoke to said they don't bother doing anything.

Have they done any bloodtests or anything?

How bad is the pain? Have you tried calling back and saying you're worried? I haven't had cervix looked at as smear up to date. I had an ultrasound and ovaries/uterus look normal and now waiting for blood test for thyroid. Have been told if blood tests are normal best thing is to go on pill to reset my cycle.

Similar age, copper coil, also had this for several months. Finally got to see gynaecologist, who did some blood tests and internal scan & also removed the coil.
All tests were clear and removing coil has stopped it. He suggested an infection, irritation by coil or hormones but seemed quite unphased by it.
Good to get it checked, hope it’s nothing serious.

I actually do have a thyroid issue which was flagged up randomly a couple of years ago but is at the level where they are not going to do anything about it. Thought could be it.

Copper coil I've had in for 3 years and no issues at all in the past. But funny I went for a big run and seriously pushed myself when this started.

I'm still bleeding quite heavily a week on. Just so hard to know if I'm wasting doctors time or not but am worried.

How long did it take to see the gyne @Thedogshow? The thought of several months of this. Also love the copper coil as hate the thought of hormone based ones. Did you switch to something else?
