Ingrown toenail - rock 'n' roll!

Finally I have an appointment to have it removed ... what should I expect apart from an end to my flipflop wearing days?

Are you having it removed completely?

I did but it has still grown back a bit (not at the sides) so I now have a half toenail (iyswim). I can still paint it and wear flip flops.

Apparently if the nail doesnt grow back the skin will harden and you can paint that if you want to!

The whole damn thing is going (or the chiropodist gets it!).

at being able to paint it!

Is it sore? All relative to current degree of agony obviously - did request removal under spinal during c-section but ob was having none of it

sorry just logged back on -

I found it incredibly painful (sorry) - I had it out under general as apparently it was so ingrown Couldn't drive for about a week after and couldn't go swimming for about 4 weeks or so.

Good luck!

Oh dear! Something to look forward to ... I was just told to be careful driving afterwards cos my toe would be numb

I had this done under local and it really wasn't too bad - it was numb for a while, then throbed a bit. But paracetamol sorted it out.

The comedy aspect for me was the huge bandage! I had to wear sandals for a while, but that was about the worst aspect.

About a quarter of the nail didn't grow back (as they killed the nailbed for that bit), but you'd be hardpressed to notice unless you knew (if you see what i mean!).

good luck with it. Hope your experience is more like mine than Bellie's!
