tender stomach, temp and headache. is this just a bug?

Hi all, so, yes, I could go to the GP, but overall I am not that ill and the chance of getting an appointment in the next 3 weeks is a million to one.

I woke up yesterday feeling rough. Uncomfortable stomach, shivery, and headache.
By lunchtime I was curled up on the sofa wrapped in a duvet and shivering. Took paracetamol, only got warm with a hot water bottle and slept on and off all day.

This morning I still feel off, but no shivering and headahce much less. My stomach feel tender. All across under my ribs it feels tender as if I had done wrong exercises etc.

No appetite at all.

I am inclined to think it is just a bug, but I have never had one like this, and the stomach thing is weird.

Anyone had similar? any suggestions?
I am going to take a covid test this morning (lateral flow) just waiting til 30 minutes after drinking.

Lateral flow tests are only for when you haven't got symptoms/asymptomatic carriers. You need a PCR test to exclude Covid.

Hope you feel better soon, tummy bugs can come with a temperature too. You could always phone 111 for advice if you are concerned.

RampantIvy · 26/04/2021 08:05

LittleSwede is correct. You need a PCR test, not a lateral flow test.

Our local GP practice has even posted on the local Facebook pages telling people with symptoms not to have a lateral flow test.

Orchidflower1 · 26/04/2021 08:16

Hope you feel better @steppemum and yes to echo the others it’s a pcr you need now. Remember to isolate until you get results. 🌸

steppemum · 26/04/2021 08:20

but I don't have any covid symptoms?

no fever
no loss of taste
no cough

I was shivery but no temperature.
You can't get a pcr test unless you lie and say you have one of those 3 symptoms

Your heading and OP says temp?

steppemum · 26/04/2021 08:28

@LittleSwede

Your heading and OP says temp?
don't know why I put that, I meant to say shivers. (brain not functioning)

Covid started with a shivery cold and upset stomach for me, progressed into the cough and fever a week later.

Orchidflower1 · 26/04/2021 08:54

@steppemum if you are shivery you are likely to have a temp. Have you taken yours?

steppemum · 26/04/2021 09:06

yes, no temp. and I am cold to the touch.

lateral flow was negative.

thanks WellIWasInTheNeighbourhoo
I so much don't need Covid right now, I have one doing GCSEs and one doing A levels, with 3-4 exams per week.
ds really needs these exams to get his A-level scores up.

and I haven't been anywhere where I could catch it, and they have all been doing LFT 2x per week, so none of kids have had it.

and I have had my first vaccine too. Over a month ago

OP posts:
steppemum · 26/04/2021 09:39

anyway.

part of my original question was that I am tender all across the top of my stomach, under my ribs.

Does anyone know what that is?

No really sick/nauseous etc, and I have no appetite

DIshedUp · 26/04/2021 09:54

It sounds like a sickness bug tbh? Doesnt everyone get a tender stomach? But if you've been feeling shivery then I'd get a covid test as well

Orchidflower1 · 26/04/2021 09:54

I’d still book a test. It won’t hurt and you’ll know.
