Ditching supplements

Does anyone feel like they have a habit of taking things they don't need?

I have a cupboard with vitamins and herbs but I think now maybe it's time to ditch all except B and magnesium.

I don't quite know why I got the rest, only that life and peri can be exhausting.

But since I was 20, I'd say energy levels are kind of luck and sleep related for me. Some of the periods of deep tiredness are just, well, life.

On a daily basis, the one I notice if I miss it for a while is the B. I'm happy to take magnesium as in theory the benefits are good, history of early heart disease in the family.

But I also have a bunch of stuff like evening primrose oil, gingko, iron, spirulina, zinc, C, D, agnus castus...I hate throwing money away but now I'm looking at it thinking, why did I buy that?!

Anyone else on minimal supplements, or none at all?

Like you I take some based on personal reasons so for me I take B12 spray, iron and vit D.
That’s because of my diet, periods and skin colour.
I have bought random things before but I don’t anymore as I don’t think it should be just take a load of supplements for no reason or because some magazine has suggested it has some supposed magical health benefits Grin. Many supplements are just urinated straight out, especially high dose B vits.
I feel very well and no longer feel as tired when I’m on my period so the iron seems to be helping.

Thanks lazier

I have the D because the doctor said, years ago, that I should take it, also have osteoporosis in the family.

The C and Zinc because I would catch a cold from someone on the train platform.

Spirulina, someone told me it would help with energy.

The general vitamin, I think I was just raised on the idea it was good.

With BOGOFs etc I have ended up with a full cupboard. It's not medicine so what am I doing? 🤷🏻‍♀️

I go through phases of taking supplements, so now it's magnesium and vitb to help with sleep and hair loss which Im having problems with. Not sure if it does help but I'm going with the flow. I won't take a cocktail of them, there's no point as it's too much for the body to process.

It sounds silly but looking at how much I spent, I think, supposing this is useful at some point?

But I think I just have to write them off and chuck them.
