Hi everyone

About a month ago now I started getting on and off tinnitus which then turned into a permanent ringing, I went to GP who prescribed antibiotics but they didn’t work and I went back and got tablets that I have just finished but I am now feeling worse, my ears are in pain and constantly feeling full and popping- it’s really starting to affect me mentally as I can’t do anything or listen to anyone without feeling pain- I do have a referral for ENT but appointment isn’t for another few weeks, just wondering has anyone experienced this and have any words of reassurance or tips?🌸

Hi lovely,
I'm sorry you're going through this...I've been there after a very bad virus. Its good you already have an ENT referral though, my doctor just basically told me theres nothing the ENT can do which they cant... which I'm pretty sure isnt true.
Getting tinnitus treated in the early stages is good as it increases your chances of getting rid of it.
I would suggest the olbas oil hot steams for a little relief, but I know that's hardly a miracle cure.
I know there is an 'ear popper' you can buy online which from the reviews looks to help with the fullness and some say tinnitus... I've yet to try it myself though xxx

Hi @Magic1231 thanks for your reply. Sorry to hear about the virus, have you recovered well otherwise? Yeah my doctor said that too but I pushed for it, it’s keeping me going as there is something they might be able to see! It really is a horrible thing x

My sister had this and saw an ENT last month. Her ear was full of wax and he "hoovered" it out and she's fine now. Don't try that at home!

Hi @MarthaGinyard that sounds relieving! Though my GP looked in my ear and said he can’t see anything, do you know if your sisters GP looked at hers?

I recovered okay from it eventually... (suffering from a UTI now but thats a different matter haha)
Do you think you had an ear infection? I wonder what brought yours on.
Good on you for getting that referral, atleast the ENT will have a proper look into what's going on in your ear.
I totally understand how it effects you mentally xxx

@Magic1231 good I’m glad, stop it’s always one thing after another lol.

Tbh I think it might have been noise induced which is what I’m most worried about, I listened to earphones and got that “volume too loud” message on my iPhone but stupidly didn’t take them out.

Yeah it’s been hard recently seeing everyone out having fun outdoor dining when I can’t even bare listening to the videos, I know that sounds like such a small problem!x

Isnt it though! Theres us worrying about covid and its something else that creeps along and takes us down haha.

Ahhh, sounds like it could have been noise induced then.. im not sure that would cause pain though? But tbh I know next to nothing about ears so it may well do.
Are your ears blocked at all?

Totally understand, I'm also looking longingly at all the people out there enjoying themselves.
I really think the ENT might be able to help your tinnitus, but if not then they definitely will the pain xxx

My sister used her health insurance to go straight to an ENT consultant because her GP had messed her about so much last time she had ear problems. Both times consultant sorted it out.

Good luck!
