Cortisol levels / Addison’s

Just wondering if anyone out there has experience of testing for Cortisol level’s and possibly Addison’s? What were your symptoms and did the blood tests come back conclusive?

Finally a GP has listened to me about my fatigue and is going to look at my cortisol levels - so I’m guessing he’s thinking adrenal function and potentially Addison’s?

I was referred to endocrinology for something else and they did a short synacthyn test for adrenal deficiency. It was ‘normal’.
After 5 years of crippling exhaustion, during which time my underactive thyroid, low iron, vitamin D & B12 were all treated with no effect on my fatigue, I was diagnosed with CFS/ME & fibromyalgia. I hope you get some answers, and possible effective treatment, soon.

Hi im currently waiting to be seen by the hospital to be tested for addison's. My cortisol levels were 295 which the doctor told me was average so he refered me. Another doctor told me that this level was fine and doesn't know why im being refered. I have on going stomach issues. Feel tired all the time. I have been having problems with my ears and constant dizziness. This has been going on for almost a year. I have had countless blood tests aparantley all normal. I have had a scan on my tummy which they said was normal. I have recently had a stool sample sent off which came back normal. I suffer with low iron so i take tablets for that. I also have suffered with hair loss as well.

Thank you for the replies.

It’s so hard to quantify ‘fatigue’ isn’t it? And so many other problems cause it... I just want to know what it is and why so I can do something about it!

I have rheumatoid arthritis and the fatigue that goes with it is like nothing else. Fatigue is so often dismissed as a symptom yet no amount of sleep or rest can fix it.

Prior to my diagnosis with Addisons I had bloating , nausea , vomiting , extremely low BP , slight skin pigmentation and lost over 4 stone ( fortunately I had it to lose ) . People obviously present differently but I was way beyond fatigue , I literally couldn’t walk or stand up for more than a few minutes before I either vomited or fainted .

BabbleBee · 26/04/2021 09:47

@Floralnomad that sounds horrendous, I hope it’s under control now.

@BabbleBee yes it’s fine , fortunately I’m very experienced with Addisons as my mum was diagnosed when I was a baby so I’d had 50 years of experience .

@TSJ19 was it Addison’s?
