Statins and joint pain

Anyone had joint pain when they started taking statins?

A couple of weeks ago, my GP prescribed Rosuvastatin. I was a bit remiss the first week and kept forgetting to take it, but I've been taking it regularly for 5 days now.

Yesterday, I started getting the most excruciating joint pain. I already have osteoarthritis in some of my joints (hands, knees and one hip), but the pain got a lot worse yesterday,. My hands felt like they were on fire, really throbbing, and both knees and one hip were much worse.

But I've also started getting bad pain in my feet and the other hip, and my back and neck have been hurting. The pain in my feet is really bad, and it's a burning pain, like in my hands.

I'm keen to know, firstly, if anyone else has had this and also if it wears off after a few days, like side effects often do.

I've got an appointment with the lipid clinic, but not for 3 weeks.

I did have joint pain , so the doctor changed my statin to another one - ironically he put me onto Rosuvastatin which has been fine for me. I'd go back to the doctor and try another one .
