ask your chemist. I got sold some sort of linctus which helped a bit. It was mainly honey and lemon but can't remember the name now.

You can take most the usual OTC things, toky. Lemsip is ok unless you have supply problems. Ordinary Sudafed I think is also equivalent -- same active ingredient = pseudo-ephedrine.

Hale advises avoiding most herbal concoctions because you can't know what's really in them.

sounds really odd but have just recovered from awful chesty cough and streaming cold and was recommended a home made remedy of heated ----
coca cola, lemon juice and grated ginger. beleive it or not it worked took it twice a day for 2 days hope it helps, BTW recommended by a nurse!!!

alternatively homeopathic remedies are ok if you are breast feeding!

It depends on the type of cough - every 4 hours up to 10 doses:

sudden onset, dry Aconite 30c
Dry cough with chestpain and headache Bryonia 30c
Dry at night, loose in morning - Pulsatilla 30c

there are loads more but these are the main ones
