Indigestion and back pain?!

Hi all, I already have endoscopy booked in but am trying to calm myself after stupidly googling🙈. I’ve been having digestive problems for a few weeks - initially classic gastritis which has been treated with omeprazole. I’m now off the omeprazole and the burning has mostly gone but I can feel food sitting in my stomach for ages, I still get the classic gnawing hunger pangs which are briefly calmed by food (before it seems to sit there for hours) and then a pain which feels like an elastic band being stretched up the mid to top right hand side of my back. Anyone had similar from gastritis/ulcer etc or had similar experience? I’m not in agony but the constant nature of it is really getting me down and I’m struggling a bit. Thanks for any help in advance!

Yes - I had that middle of last year. There were a few threads about it at the time and I have also heard that many people who have had COVID experience this as a long term side-effect.

I was given omeprazole but ended up booking a gastroscopy privately which diagnosed a hiatus hernia and gastritis. The consultant recommended that I go back on the omeprazole for at least three months as it can take a while for the symptoms to settle down. This was about six months ago and I am still on it - whenever I try to stop, the symptoms come back and as I am dealing with other issues at the moment it's easier to just keep going with the omeprazole.
My pain seemed to focus in my back although I also had the reflux feeling of food coming back up or being hard to digest.

Thank you @cupcakesandcoffee - it’s reassuring to know that you also had this as a result of gastritis - I’ve been worrying that the fact it’s gone on so long & is so constant it must be something more sinister. Also interesting about the COVID link - haven’t had it (to my knowledge!) and neither has anyone in our household but maybe I should get an antibody test.... If anyone has any meal, snack, drink or remedy suggestions that may help it ease please let me know!!

Right hand side of your back? Could be gallbladder.

Thanks @SOLINVICTUS - I had thought that too but ultrasound showed zilch stones....I still wonder if it might have sludge in it and be grumbling but haven’t heard of many others having that issue... if endoscopy doesn’t come up with anything I’m going to ask for a ct. Thank you for the response. Any other gastritis sufferers out there?
