Blood test showed abnormalities

I’ve recently had bloods taken and a number of results came back abnormal. One of them is a wait and monitor in a few months(which is good), the others I’ve to get checked again next week. Stupidly looked up info on google, and scarily the abnormal ones getting rechecked are pointing towards a cancer risk. My DH won’t allow me to raise any concerns since I’m accused of being negative so I haven’t even told him about my results. I don’t want to have to deal with him being dismissive yet again. Could really do with a hand hold.

Hand hold right here for you OP, 🌸
I’m sorry that your DH hasn’t been supportive in the past, do whatever you need to keep yourself steady at the moment. Do you have a friend that you could talk to IRL? Sometimes sharing makes the load a little lighter. We are always here of course for you. So now it’s just time to wait until the repeat test? Could you schedule in some nice things for yourself in the next week to help take your mind off it?

Thanks @TangerineGreen I’ve not really got anyone irl that I can share this with. I’ve had lots go wrong medically over the years and don’t want to burden anyone with more crap.
Yes, I’m just wanting for the follow up blood test next week and then we are told that it’s a week for results at the moment :-(
Still too many covid restrictions here to arrange anything nice so I’ll need to settle for a wander and a takeaway coffee!

If your test results showed indicators for blood cancer, you would be straight to haematology. I had bloods taken in Wednesday, GP phone call Thursday, and first haem appointment Friday.

Your timelines really suggest that although something is amiss, there’s no need to suspect a malignancy at this stage

Easy to say, harder to do, but keep off google. Treatments for many forms of blood cancer have been revolutionised with new classes of drugs, but there’s still lots of older and scarier info out there and it won’t help you one bit to read that. If you must, stick to reputable sites like Blood Cancer UK

And yes, the wait for test results is dreadful when you know Something’s Up, but you don’t know what and serious diagnoses gave yet to be excluded. I think it’s one of the most stressful times there is.

Thanks @iVampire hoping you are well on the road to recovery from your own treatment.

Will stay off google and try and keep myself distracted over the coming days.
